The folded strip of jute is the fundamental building block of my work, much like words form sentences.
In my usual process, laying down the jute strips is the first step; only then do I begin painting. However, there are times when I appreciate the surface in its raw state, without adding color or form, letting the texture speak for itself.
In this series, I focused on the compositions and volumes I could construct with the jute on the canvas, allowing the material to shape the visual narrative.
